About Country Roads Weekly

  • Welcome to Country Roads Weekly, we are a new sports media outlet focused on your West Virginia Mountaineers. We are a group of young men who have nothing but love for our state and University. Over the years of growing and watching our peers perform at the highest level in collegiate athletics we’ve decided it’s time we step up to bat for them and share their stories, accomplishments, failures and journeys in a manner in which they feel they have control and a voice for them that doesn’t take advantage of the information they share with us in confidence until they’re ready for it to be shared.

  • The “Vision” at Country Roads Weekly is to bring a community together. For far too long we’ve allowed accounts to grow and divide our fans for views and quick cash grabs. We believe the integrity and authenticity of sports “reporting” has become compromised. I’ve seen the representatives of these once highly respected communities resort to public spouts over social media directly attacking each other. While understanding that most of my team is young and full of vigor we hold ourselves to a standard of always putting the team first. We are here to bring the true heartbeat of Morgantown to light and that has and always be the wonderful students, athletes, residents, professors and representatives of this city

  • Expect a new breath of journalism. Our intention is to build an organic body that tackles every aspect of the Morgantown nucleus. Whether it’s coverage of sporting events, recruit tracking, merchandise output, live podcasts with WVU greats or its highlighting our favorite watering hole to watch the big game at, you can expect our best and genuine production. We are looking to build an environment that caters to each readers niche and create a following of fans who are wanting to feel included in the WVU world. Any and all constructive criticism is welcome as we only want to grow and expand our skills and knowledge. We are made by the fans for the fans and we hope to keep you coming back for more!

  • While as of now most of our staff, writers and personalities have decided to remain anonymous. I have chosen to represent us in every outreach and aspect. My name is Nicholas J. Podo,  I am a United States Army Veteran and former student at West Virginia University. I previously worked for and built WVU Barstool an account with well over 200k followers across all platforms. I am an entrepreneur proudly located in the heart of Morgantown. Having opened and operated many Morgantown Restaurants and bars most notably for Arias Enterprises and for some time I managed the Goat Pub directly partnered with The Country Roads Trust, I have built a relationship with the local community focused on bringing the best Morgantown has to offer. I have been blessed to be involved with many athletes and coaches in the hospitality industry and my growing connections and bond within WVU Sports has led me to taking the initiative with the development and production of the Country Roads Weekly Brand

If there is any fan base in America that would stay up until the sun rises to watch It’s Team. It’s the fine folks of West “By God” Virginia.
